Timing Your Visit to Avoid Crowds
By Season
Quietest: The shoulder seasons of spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) offer pleasant weather and fewer visitors than the summer peak. Winter (November-March) is the least crowded and offers the magical sight of the castle dusted in snow, though it can be very cold.
Busiest: July and August are the peak months, with long lines and crowded rooms. The period around Halloween is also extremely popular due to the castle's connection with Dracula and special events.
By Day of the Week
Weekdays (Tuesday to Friday) are significantly quieter than weekends. Saturdays are the busiest day of the week.
By Time of Day
The best time to visit is right at opening (9:00 AM on Tue-Sun, 12:00 PM on Mon) or in the last two hours before closing. The midday period from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM sees the largest crowds from tour buses.
